Naloxone for Iowa Organizations, Businesses & Schools
The Iowa Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) is authorized to purchase and distribute free naloxone under the statewide standing order to eligible Iowa organizations, businesses and schools for on-site or community distribution purposes.​​

My organization wants naloxone to have on-site in case of an overdose emergency
Request free naloxone kits for your organization to have on-hand. These are for use if you encounter someone experiencing a suspected opioid overdose as part of your normal course of work.
This initiative is intended for Iowa organizations, businesses, schools, law enforcement agencies and non-EMS-regulated fire departments.
All state-regulated EMS first responder entities should receive training and naloxone (available in multiple formulations) from the Bureau of Emergency Medical and Trauma Services at Iowa HHS. Please reach out to Regan Aeschliman, FR-CARP Program Director, with any questions.
My organization wants to distribute naloxone to community members
Eligible organizations can request naloxone products to distribute to community members, for use by the community members.
This goal of this initiative is to provide naloxone products to individuals who may in a position to assist someone experiencing a suspected opioid overdose.
Other Naloxone Programs
Some counties have started using local opioid settlement funds to support local naloxone distribution efforts such as vending machines.
